The Montessori Cultural sequence

Cultural runs 12 published lessons here, from Sandpaper Globe: Land and Water at 2.5 to 4.5 years to The Sun and the Planets (Solar System) at 4 to 6 years. They're listed in the order a child meets them, each linked to its full page. We add lessons as each one is written and checked against Montessori's own books, so the list will grow.

Start with Sandpaper Globe: Land and Water, which needs nothing before it. If you aren't sure your child is ready for Cultural, two minutes of questions place your child on the sequence.

How the Cultural lessons depend on each other

Prerequisite map of the Cultural lessons published so far. Each arrow runs from a lesson to the one that needs it first. Drawn from the lesson data, so it changes when a lesson is added. Scroll sideways to see every area.

Cultural is one strand of the shelf. To see what sits beside sandpaper globe: land and water at the same age across all five areas, go to Montessori activities for age 2, or answer six questions for a first shelf of your own.
