About Homeschool Montessori

By Owen WrenLast updated

Homeschool Montessori is a free reference for families who teach Montessori at home. Each lesson page follows the same structure, so you can find the aim, the materials, the presentation and what comes next without reading a whole book first. The full list of lessons shows every area in order.

Who writes it

Owen Wren is a homeschooling dad assembling the open Montessori sequence from the primary texts as his family works through it. The site claims no Montessori teaching credential, and each lesson page says when it is sourced from the texts and not yet presented at home.

How pages are written

Lesson pages draw on Maria Montessori's own published works and on current Montessori parenting and research literature, cited at the bottom of each page. Presentations are written in our own words for a home setting. Montessori training programs differ in small details, such as the order of materials, so treat each page as a reliable starting point rather than the only correct version.

Pictures

The pictures of materials on this site are generated illustrations, never photos of our own shelf: each says “Illustration” in its caption and alt text, is reviewed against the lesson text before it goes up (one that miscounts a material is held back), and shows no child's face. Scale drawings are computed from each material's published dimensions. Some pages also show plates from Montessori's own books, The Montessori Method (1912) and Dr. Montessori's Own Handbook (1914), exactly as printed: each names its book and year, and they are public domain, not ours. Real photos will replace illustrations as we take them, and they will show hands and materials only: no child's face and no child's name appears anywhere on this site.
