What the zoology puzzles are for

The child lifts each body part out by its knob, names it, and finds it on a real animal or a picture: fins and tail on the fish, beak and wings on the bird. The fish usually comes first.

The puzzles are later than Montessori's books. Her 1900 lectures teach animals from the live animal first, with models and pictures after.

Questions parents ask about the zoology puzzles

What are Montessori zoology puzzles?

Wooden puzzles of animals, each body part a separate piece, used to learn the parts of animals from the fish to the horse.

Which zoology puzzle comes first?

Usually the fish, then the bird.
